Our History

Abhinav Samaj is a non-profit organization registered with the Government of NCT of Delhi under the Trust Act. It was founded on April 7, 2010, by retired government officers, businesspeople, and members from affluent families who came together to serve society based on their personal experiences. Their focus has been on rehabilitating and caring for destitute elderly people. To achieve this, they opened Jai Ma Durga Old-Age Home at C-147, Uday Vihar, Nilothi Extn., Chander Vihar, New Delhi-110041, where they provide free shelter, food, medical facilities, and other basic needs for up to 25 elderly people.

Abhinav Samaj has also established another old-age home, Abhinav Shanti Sewa Sadan, near Sai Mandir, Najafgarh, New Delhi-110043. This home can accommodate 50 inmates, with an additional 60 elderly people visiting during the day for day-care facility, which includes free food, physiotherapy, and counselling services. In the new home, they provide palliative and hospice care as well. Regular health check-ups are conducted for all the inmates, and the last rituals are performed according to their religion in case of their demise.

Apart from caring for elderly people, Abhinav Samaj also provides shelter and education to destitute children. The organization has recognized the crisis affecting both rich and poor families alike in the current age of micro-families, where many elderly and children are left without any support. The governing body of Abhinav Samaj decided to work towards the welfare and rehabilitation of destitute elderly people after witnessing such incidents first-hand.

In addition to their regular activities, Abhinav Samaj also arranges free medical camps on a monthly basis for different diseases, such as heart diseases, dental problems, eye problems, and psychiatric issues, for underprivileged people. During the COVID-19 crisis, the organization's volunteers have been working tirelessly to help affected families by providing them with meals, medicine, oxygen cylinders, PPE kits, nebulizers, oximeters, and other necessities, free of cost. They have also adopted 100 families who have lost their earning members due to COVID-19, providing them with food packets, grocery kits, financial assistance, and counselling services.

Furthermore, Abhinav Samaj distributes books and study materials to primary school students in slums and JJ colonies of Delhi/NCR. They also provide education on weekends to children in such colonies who do not have access to electronic gadgets. Since May 15, 2020, they have distributed 80,412 packets of grocery kits, 465,181 packets of ready-to-eat food, 315,217 masks, 42,620 bottles of sanitizer, and 41,010 pieces of Dettol soap, as well as books and study materials to 8,865 students in different slums and JJ colonies.

Lastly, Abhinav Samaj has obtained a large piece of land (25 bighas) in Chakrata, Distt. Dehradun in Uttarakhand state in India, to construct a big old-age home and orphanage with approximately 100 rooms. The aim is to provide world-class facilities to destitute elderly people and homeless children. They also plan to develop an Agro-Eco Tourism system there for the elderly.
